25.1 General Feature Gating Policy

25.1 General Feature Gating Policy

Chariot employs a tier-based feature gating system to manage user access, usage rights, and content availability. Access to specific features is contingent upon your:

  • Active subscription plan (e.g., Weekly, Monthly, Annual)


  • One-time report purchase type (e.g., Standard, Premium, Max Insight)


  • Trial, promotional, or onboarding status


This policy is foundational to Chariot’s pricing model and technical architecture.

25.1.1 Access Based on Active Tier

Each plan or purchase tier provides access only to the specific features and allowances listed at the time of transaction, including:

  • Report generation types (Standard, Premium, Max Insight)


  • AI chat capabilities and query caps


  • Access to historical data, model upgrades, or contract tools


  • Availability of visual inspection tools or PDF parsing


You acknowledge that no tier includes access to all Chariot features by default unless explicitly marketed as such.

25.1.2 Usage Limits May Vary by Plan

Your usage may be subject to daily, weekly, or monthly limits, including but not limited to:

  • Number of AI chat prompts or queries


  • Number of report generations or VIN lookups


  • Number of uploads for photo-based or document analysis


  • Access duration for stored outputs (e.g., 90-day retention)


All such limits are enforced automatically, and Chariot may adjust thresholds without notice to ensure system integrity.

25.1.3 No Cross-Tier Entitlements

Features included in one plan or report type are not transferable to another plan or purchase unless:

  • Specifically bundled in a promotion


  • Explicitly enabled via bonus credit, token, or upgrade


  • Granted manually by Chariot support


Purchasing a low-tier product does not entitle you to features reserved for higher-tier users, even if they appear accessible during technical overlap or UI error.

25.1.4 System Enforcement and Anti-Abuse

Chariot reserves the right to enforce tier-based access through:

  • Prompt blocking


  • API-level gating


  • UI lockouts


  • Throttling or session termination


Attempts to bypass feature gating—whether via prompt engineering, reverse-engineering, API exploitation, or unauthorized account access—may result in immediate account suspension and legal action.

25.1.5 Transparency and Disclosure

All feature gating policies are disclosed through:

  • The in-app Plan Options screen


  • The Pricing or Terms sections of the Chariot website


  • Any onboarding or upsell modals prior to final purchase


You are responsible for reviewing your tier’s features before purchase. Claims of misunderstanding, assumption, or unlisted expectations are not grounds for refund (see Section 24.14).

Chariot offers a structured range of access models based on subscription tier or one-time purchase. Each plan type governs your available features, token limits, support tier, and retention windows. The following plan types are currently supported:



25.2.1 No Plan (Free Trial or Limited Access)

Users without a paid subscription or report purchase may receive limited access as part of a trial, onboarding sequence, or capped demo experience.

  • Includes: Basic AI chat (up to 3 prompts/day or 20 prompts/month), limited access to saved reports, reduced token caps

  • Excludes: Full reports, image upload analysis, contract scanning, and advanced valuation breakdowns

  • Limits: May vary based on promotional period or account history

  • Upgrade Path: Must purchase a subscription or one-time report to unlock premium services

  • Termination: Chariot may revoke trial access at any time for abuse or inactivity



25.2.2 Weekly Plan – $4.99/week

  • Billing: Recurs weekly via app store (Apple or Google)

  • Access: Full AI chat, visual analysis tools, basic PDF analysis

  • Limits: May include 10–20 AI interactions/day, no more than 3 report views/week

  • Trial: Not eligible for trial periods

  • Use Case: Ideal for short-term users or quick comparisons



25.2.3 Monthly Plan – $14.99/month

  • Billing: Recurs monthly via app store

  • Access: Full access to AI chat, moderate token caps, standard support

  • Limits: May include up to 50 AI prompts/month, saved report access, PDF analysis

  • Trial: May include limited-time promotional trial (when available)

  • Upgrades: Can be upgraded to annual or enhanced with one-time report purchases



25.2.4 Annual Plan – $99.99/year

  • Billing: Recurs annually via app store, with optional 3-day free trial

  • Access: Full AI access, priority support, extended usage caps

  • Limits: May include 500+ prompts/year, high-resolution vision output, deeper PDF contract tools

  • Discount: Reflects 44% savings over monthly

  • Trial: Eligible for 3-day trial (requires payment method)



25.2.5 One-Time Report Purchase – $14.99–$49.99/report

  • Billing: One-time in-app or web purchase

  • Access: Unlocks one standalone AI-generated vehicle report

  • Tiers:

    • Standard – $14.99: Basic condition + market value

    • Premium – $29.99: Adds risk flags, contract scan

    • Max Insight – $49.99: Adds auction history, metadata, AI narrative

  • No Subscription Required

  • No Recurring Billing

  • Expiration: Report accessible for 90 days post-purchase



25.2.6 Custom or Enterprise Plans (If Offered)

Custom pricing and enterprise licenses may override these defaults and include:

  • Extended report volume

  • Admin dashboard access

  • API hooks or CRM integrations

  • White-label usage rights

  • Zero-refund clauses (see Section 24.17)



You acknowledge that each plan is mutually exclusive in billing but may be combined for access stacking (e.g., Monthly Plan + Max Insight one-time report). No feature set is guaranteed beyond the duration of your active plan or report window unless otherwise agreed in writing.




25.3 Feature Classifications We Collect

Chariot’s services are organized into distinct feature classes, each of which may be gated, throttled, or enhanced based on your plan type (see Section 25.2). Access to these features is determined by your active subscription tier, report purchase type, or trial state. These features include, but are not limited to:

Conversational sessions with Chariot’s AI, including:

  • Car buying/selling Q&A


  • Mechanical risk explanation


  • Service cost projections


  • Personalized recommendation logic


Limits may include:

  • Prompts/day or /month


  • Context window size


  • Maximum thread length


  • Storage of previous threads


Note: Trial users may receive shorter, lower-priority responses with capped threading memory.

Image-based analysis of:

  • Exterior and interior condition


  • Flood or collision indicators


  • Paint variation, tire wear, panel alignment


  • Mileage fraud detection from dashboards


Limits may include:

  • Number of images per session


  • Upload size or resolution


  • Storage duration of uploaded photos


  • Restrictions on older phones or browsers


Note: Available only to paid users. Not included in basic trial plans.

Document parsing and AI summarization for:

  • Purchase agreements


  • Loan terms


  • Extended warranty or insurance PDFs


  • Dealer quotes and hidden fee detection


Limits may include:

  • Number of PDFs/month


  • Character limits per file


  • Model quality for parsing logic


  • Feature availability per subscription tier


Note: Premium and Max Insight users gain expanded parsing depth.



📊 25.3.4 Market/Condition Insights

AI-generated value ranges and condition flags using:

  • Historical market pricing


  • Trim-level benchmark deltas


  • Estimated repair impacts


  • Auction comps (Max Insight only)


Limits may include:

  • Number of vehicles evaluated


  • Region-specific access


  • Delay in market refresh for lower plans


Note: These insights are informational and not legal valuations (see Section 23.6).



📥 25.3.5 Report Generation & Export

Access to one-time reports or stored results from AI sessions, including:

  • Full condition breakdown


  • Visual and contract insights


  • Downloadable PDF with branding


  • Interactive report viewing


Limits may include:

  • Reports/month or /plan


  • Export availability post-trial


  • Time-based access expiration (e.g., 90 days)


Note: Report content is frozen at time of generation. No retroactive updates (see Section 23.23).



🔄 25.3.6 Token Caps

Each interaction with Chariot’s systems consumes internal “tokens” based on:

  • Prompt size


  • Image or PDF processing load


  • Model selection (GPT-4 vs GPT-3.5, etc.)


  • Length and complexity of output


Limits may include:

  • Daily/weekly/monthly token caps


  • Prompt blocking when exhausted


  • Automatic reset intervals


Note: Token usage does not guarantee minimum output length (see Section 22.25).



🔧 25.3.7 Customization / Support Tiers

Plan-based access to:

  • Support channels (email vs priority chat)


  • Queue speed or response priority


  • Feature toggles, model test previews


  • Human review options (if applicable)


Tiers:

  • Trial: No support or delayed responses


  • Weekly/Monthly: Email support only


  • Annual: Priority support and roadmap voting


  • Enterprise: Custom SLAs and onboarding


Note: Use of support is subject to the fair use and abuse policy (see Section 14.3).




25.4 Free Access Tier Limitations (Soon)

Users without a paid plan may:

  • Access basic onboarding flow


  • Use up to 3 AI chat prompts per day

  • View limited feature previews


  • Not receive vehicle reports or deep insights


  • Be subject to daily hard caps



25.5 Weekly Plan ($4.99/week)

Includes:

  • Up to 5 chat threads/day


  • 5–10 image uploads/day


  • 1 contract scan/day


  • No access to full reports


  • No priority model access


  • Gated insights (no full-depth commentary)



25.6 Monthly Plan ($14.99/month)

Includes:

  • 10+ chat threads/day


  • 15+ vision uploads/day


  • 2–3 contract scans/day


  • Partial condition analysis


  • VIN decoding + basic report previews


  • Priority AI queue access




25.7 Annual Plan ($99.99/year)

Includes:

  • Everything in Monthly


  • Increased usage ceilings (e.g., 30–50 uploads/day)


  • 3-day free trial (new users only)


  • Advanced experimental model access


  • Early feature unlocks


  • Dedicated support channel




25.8 One-Time Report Purchases

Does not unlock any ongoing usage. Grants one detailed AI report with:

  • Full multi-image analysis


  • Market + mechanical insight


  • Optional contract risk scanning


  • Exportable PDF


  • No chat, no token overflow, no trial extension



25.9 Report Generation Access

Only Annual users or à la carte purchases may receive full condition reports. Standard plans get:

  • VIN summaries


  • Basic advisories


  • AI chats suggesting actions — not the full formatted PDF



25.10 Token Boosting Limits

Higher-tier plans receive more tokens per day/month. Token overflow resets with each billing period. Token purchases are separate.



25.11 No Cross-Tier Sharing

You may not share reports, scans, or AI outputs gated to your tier with users on lower plans for resale, redistribution, or bypassing gating.



25.12 Gating Logic May Change

Chariot reserves the right to modify which features are available per tier as models improve, costs shift, or usage behavior evolves.



25.13 Access May Vary by Platform

Not all features may be fully supported on all devices (e.g., web vs. iOS). Platform limitations do not override the plan’s gating terms.



25.14 Feature Locking Enforcement

Chariot enforces feature access via RevenueCat, Supabase roles, and usage flag checks. Circumvention attempts may trigger suspension.



25.15 Bonus Access from Purchases

Some report buyers may be granted temporary access to Premium tier features for conversion funnels (e.g., 50% off first month offer after a report purchase).



25.16 AI Model Tiering

Some AI models (e.g., GPT-4o, Claude Opus) are restricted to higher-paying plans due to cost-per-token. Users on lower tiers may receive GPT-3.5-equivalent or throttled responses.



25.17 Advanced Insights Gating

Deeper features like:

  • Longitudinal vehicle risk


  • Warranty red flag detection


  • Auction photo matching
    are restricted to Monthly+ or Annual plans and may evolve behind the scenes.



25.18 Historical Report Access

Annual subscribers may be granted extended access to prior uploads or auto-archived reports. Lower-tier plans may experience earlier data expiry.



25.19 Plan Switching Limitations

Frequent upgrades/downgrades may result in feature toggling delays. Chariot enforces fair use logic to prevent abuse of trial/weekly switchback cycles.



25.20 Priority Queuing for Annual Users

Users on the Annual plan receive faster AI response queues and higher uptime guarantees during high-load windows.



25.21 Bundled Discounts Do Not Override Gating

Users who receive discounts, credits, or promo trials are still gated based on actual plan identity, not payment amount.



25.22 Feature Teasing Disclosure

Some features may appear visible but greyed out. This is intentional UI gating to showcase upsell paths and promote plan upgrades.



25.23 Support Tier Gating

Higher plans receive:

  • Faster ticket responses


  • In-app support widget (Monthly+)


  • Personalized model error triage (Annual)



25.24 Clause Survival

Gating terms persist even if plans are canceled or refunded. Feature access may be retroactively rescinded if refunds or chargebacks are processed.
